Back pain affects up to 90% of the population and is the single most common cause for seeing a doctor after the common cold.

The most common causes are slipped discs and spinal stenosis or combinations of the above.

Previously surgery seemed like the only solution as other interventions seem to give temporary relief.

Computerized DTS traction gives amazing results to those with back problems and research has shown that there is a reduction in the disc bulge post treatment that is visible  on MRI months after the treatment has been completed. Studies have shown that pain relief for slipped discs was up to 85% and pain relief for those with spinal stenosis was up to 75% success rates are similar to surgical outcomes.

Treatment plans

Once diagnosed with an MRI, then an effective treatment plan can be established based on your clinical assessment and examination findings.

This will usually be a mix of physical therapies aimed at reducing inflammation and chiropractic adjustments where indicated as well as the DTS treatments.

DTS Treatments are pain free and so comfortable that some fall asleep however as the treatment stimulates circulation, there may be discomfort experienced post treatment and patients are encouraged to use other clinical modalities like ultrasound and electro-stimulation with ice/heat packs.

DTS Key Benefits

Back pain affects up to 90% of the population. Slipped disc problems are a major source of concern to those with back problems. DTS is preferred by many as an alternative to surgery and long- term medication.
20 sessions of DTS has been shown to heal slipped discs in before and after studies in 70% without surgery! Up to 40 sessions may be required for large slipped discs. Pain relief occurs in 85% of those treated with DTS.

Treatments are pain free and so comfortable that some fall asleep, however we do offer clinical therapies to reduce inflammation in the unlikely event that aggravations do occur.

DTS is very effective when combined with traditional chiropractic, however there are individuals who require surgery. We refer to suitably qualified orthopedic and neurosurgeons in those cases that do not respond favorably to care. Rest assured that if you require further care, you would be directed towards a solution.

Who it Benefits

Anyone who has back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include slipped discs, spinal spondylosis, sciatica or even failed back surgery (without implants)!

SLIPPED DISC PROBLEMS
Herniated, bulging or protruding discs commonly known as slipped disc problems have been shown to respond well to DTS traction therapy and 20 sessions over 4-8 weeks depending on severity may be extended to 40 sessions over 8-10 weeks for ideal recovery.

SPONDYLOSIS
Spondylosis without slipped disc problems has been shown to improve with DTS therapy over 20 sessions and may require up to 40 when there is a slipped disc present with spondylosis.

SCIATICA
Refers to the pain and or numbness down the leg due to a pinched nerve in the lumbar spine, also known as radiculopathy. This condition is called brachialgia when it affects the neck and results in pain and or numbness in the hand.

FAILED BACK SURGERY
Those that have had failed back surgery and did not have articulated (metal) implants or fusion procedures are suitable for DTS Therapy.

MECHANISMS OF IMPROVEMENT
The 85% improvement in disc patients is a suction effect of the negative pressure applied to the vertebral end plates and intervertebral space can also be thought of as improving the nutrition and leading to the healing of the disc.
The 75% clinical improvement in those patients with primarily foraminal stenosis or disc space narrowing without much herniation could be explained by joint mobilization in the freeing up of an impacted nerve root or improvement of nerve root circulation by the distraction treatment.
These effects may be enhanced by the addition of chiropractic spinal manipulation as this has been shown to be effective for chronic back pain with or without sciatica.

Those with neck pain radiating to the arms and shoulders may also respond to DTS for pinched nerves when combined with chiropractic adjustments and physiotherapy techniques, can result in long term improvements.

Unsuitable for:
