Knee Pain Treatment

Service Details

Knee pain may begin in any of the structures in and around the knee. These include muscles and nerves as well as spinal vertebrae and the cushioning disks of the low back. Knee pain may also come from regions near the lower back, the pelvis, the hip & buttock or leg & foot. Swiss DolorClast® method treatment may provide relief where other therapies have failed and should be considered as a viable non-surgical solution.

Infra Patella tendonitis (Jumpers knee)

Infrapatellar tendonitis is a chronic overload lesion in the patellar ligament at the attachment to the lower pole of the patella. This lesion is found primarily in athletes who participate in jumping sports.
Symptoms of jumpers knee include pain felt at the front of the knee below the kneecap. This anterior knee pain can sometimes be dull and aches - or it can occur in sharp shooting stabs related to movements.

Peri patella pain (Pattellofemoral Pain)

Patellofemoral pain syndrome can be defined as retropatellar or peripatellar pain resulting from physical and biochemical changes in the patellofemoral joint. It should be distinguished from chondromalacia, which is actual fraying and damage to the underlying patellar cartilage. Patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome have anterior knee pain that typically occurs with activity and often worsens when they are descending steps or hills. The condition affects adolescent girls and prolonged sitting can also trigger the pain and either one or both knees can be affected.

Calcific tendonitis and Knee pain

Calcific tendonitis is a disorder characterized by deposits of hydroxyapatite (a crystalline calcium phosphate) in any tendon or muscle of the body, but most commonly in the tendons and muscles of the quadriceps causing knee pain and inflammation. Pain is often aggravated by flexion of the knee and caused by blunt trauma to the thigh. Other complaints may be stiffness, snapping, locking, or weakness of the affected lower limb. The condition is related to knee pain when it affects the quadriceps lower half.

Minor osteophytes (Bone spurs) at the Knee

Bone spurs also called osteophytes -- are benign, bony bumps that usually form on the knee joints viz: patellofemoral, tibio-femoral and tibio-fibular joints. The knee joint is a common place for these to occur and is the first indication of wear and tear formation.

Iliotibial Band Syndrome (runners knee)

Iliotibial band (ITB) syndrome is characterized by outer (lateral) knee pain and discomfort that begins at the onset of a run then reduces and disappears after a period of running. It is a common injury to the knee, generally associated with running mostly; other activities implicated include cycling, hiking or weight-lifting (especially squats).

Knee Pain from trigger points

Trigger points are isolated focal points located in a taut band of skeletal muscle.  When touched, these trigger point produce pain that may be felt in a location far from the actual point.  Trigger point pain often accompanies chronic musculoskeletal disorders or mimic more serious conditions for example trigger points in the mid or low back or hip muscles like may mimic a knee problem because the knee falls within the referred pain pattern erector spinae, quadratus lumborum or iliopsoas.
